Setting up Outlook Express on Boku Server

  1. If you have been using Outlook Express with another e-mail provider follow these directions, or if you are a new user of e-mail these directions will work for you as well.
  2. This assumes you have been using “Microsoft Outlook Express” for your mail program.  These directions will enable you to keep your existing messages and your “Address Book.”
  3. Start Outlook Express
  4. Click on “Tools”
  5. Click on “Accounts”

  1. In the “Internet Accounts” folder click on “Add”

  1. Click on “Mail”
  1. Enter your name
  2. Click “Next”
  3. Enter your new address on your business domain
    As the expmple below shows the address is <yourname@boku.net>  You would enter your e-mail address ie. "yourname@your_domain
  1. Click “Next”
  2. On the “Internet Connection Wizard”, “E-mail Server Names
  1. In the box for “My incoming mail server is a” click on POP3 or click the down arrow and click on IMAP.  In the entry boxes enter mail.yourdomain.xxx, ie. .com, .org, .net(both boxes)
  2. Click “Next”
  1. Account name is your e-mail address, enter your “Password”
  2. Be sure there is a check in the box to “remember password” if you want it to be remembered and not have to enter it when you get your mail.  But if for security reasons you do not want it remembered do not check the box.
  3. Do Not check the box to “Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
  4. Click “Next”
  1. Click “Finish”
  2. Click on mail.yourdomain so it is highlighted.
  3. Now click on the “Properties” tab
  4. You should get something like this:
  1. Click on the “Advanced” tab
  2. Now you have something like this.
 
  1. There is not a lot to do here but one important entry.  In the “Outgoing mail (SMTP) box it must be changed to 2500.
  2. Be sure there is no check mark at; “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)”
  3. To look like this:
  1. Now click on the “Apply” tab at the bottom right.
  2. Now click the “OK” tab
  3. Click on the  “Close” tab
  4. You are now ready to use you e-mail account
